
Whole Pig
A finished Duroc/Hampshire pig will weigh approximately 250 lbs. on the hoof (live weight). Hanging weight will be approximately 180 lbs (72%).
We charge $4.75 per lb. on hanging weight plus a $75 harvest fee. Your Duroc/Hampshre pig will be custom cut and wrapped based on your wishes @ $1.50 per lb. (paid directly to the butcher).

Your packaged weight is the net weight of the meat you will receive that is packaged and ready for your freezer. It will typically be 62% of the hanging weight. The reduced weight is attributed to the cutting and trimming of fat, connective tissue, bone, etc., as well as moisture lost during hanging. This weight varies depending upon the cuts of meat included and any additional package options, e.g. bones, fat etc.
Freezer Space
The rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for every 35 – 40 pounds of packaged meat. A whole pig needs approximately a 4 cubic feet of freezer space.
